FAQ

Which percentage of the box offices goes to marketing budgets and what is their share?

Marketing budgets account for approximately 20% to 40% of film budgets. This is because marketing is critical to the success and longevity of any film.

Without marketing, nobody will know anything about your film. No one will pay for your film if they don't know about it.

How many theaters do I need to make back my investment?

It all depends on how long your theatrical release will be running.

You only need one theater if your film will be shown for less than 2 weeks.

If your film will run for more that two weeks, at least two theatres are necessary.

Why is Hollywood calling this Hollywood?

The first film industry was founded in California in 1887 by D.W. Griffith. It was named for its Los Angeles location, also known as Hollywood at that time.

Because it was such a fascinating place, people kept coming back for more. It attracted people from all over the world to check out what was happening.

Hollywood is an important part of culture today. We have movies, television shows, music videos, commercials, etc. They are all called Hollywood.

Why is it that so few independent films are ever released?

Most indie filmmakers assume that their films will get picked up by distributors.

Because they love the work, distributors will likely buy their films.

But this is rare. Distributors often use independent filmmakers.

They may delay a film's release until after the awards season is over.

They may delay the release of a low budget film until after summer blockbuster season begins.

Distributors are also trying to keep films off the streets until audiences have already spent hundreds upon thousands of dollars on tickets or popcorn.

They don’t want to miss out on these profits.

What is the average salary of actors?

Actor pay ranges from $1 million per movie to less than $100,000 for independent films. The average actor receives between $10,000 and $20,000 for a film. Many actors do not get any compensation. It depends on how successful they are. Actors can make millions, while others have trouble finding work.

Are foreign sales more lucrative than domestic ones for Hollywood?

Yes, but only a little. In 2017, foreign revenues accounted for about 17% of total revenue. 83% of domestic revenues were generated in 2017.

Over half of the world's population is actually located in overseas markets.

This means that even those who have never seen a movie at their home, many will still be interested in your movie.

How many films does Hollywood make in a given year?

Hollywood studios make approximately 3,000 films annually. That's right, 3000!

Hollywood spends billions to advertise for these movies. They spend millions making them. They also spend millions on marketing them. How many of these movies do you think end up in theaters?

The answer is probably around 200-300. What happens to the 2,700+ other films? They are either distributed as direct-to–video releases or simply left in storage.

However, not all of them are unavoidable. Some of them were selected for distribution via Netflix Prime, Amazon Prime and Hulu Plus, iTunes or Google Play.

So why don't we see more of them? Why are they not released in theaters? Because they're too expensive to produce.

They could also be made cheaper and put into theaters.

I can help. I can help you to find the best way to get your film into theaters.

I will teach you how to increase your return on investment (ROI), as well as increasing your chances of seeing the movie in theaters.

Let's face facts...

It can be challenging to get your film into theaters. It is a complex, long-winded and complicated process that requires a lot of legalities.

It might also cost you a lot before you start.

The time frame in which your film can be distributed is also very limited.

There isn't enough time in between the time a movie is finished and when its theatrical run starts.
